Here's How Many Speeding Tickets, DUI Arrest State Police Made During Holiday Enforcement

State police have released stats related to their increased coverage over the holiday season, even as they continue their crackdown through Wednesday evening.

As midnight Tuesday, police had responded to more than 6,000 calls for service, including 400 accidents, two that included fatalities.

Officers said they also made 47 DUI arrests.

The focus of the holiday week increased patrols including drivers under the influence the influence of alcoholic beverages and/or drugs as well as violations committed by aggressive drivers.

The following State Police statistics cover the time period starting at 12:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, through midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 25.

  • SPEEDING violations: 486
  • SEATBELT violations: 10
  • OTHER HAZARDOUS violations including unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone usage, texting, failure to signal, etc.: 25
  • DUI arrests: 47
  • ACCIDENTS investigated: 419 w/injury: 46/ with fatalities: 2
  • Calls for service: 6277

Last year, during the same time period, troopers responded to 500 additional calls for service. Here are the comparable stats from last year: 

  • SPEEDING: 465
  • SEATBELT: 13
  • TOTAL VIOLATIONS to include unsafe lane change, following too closely, cell phone, texting, speeding, etc.: 1,104
  • DUI ARREST: 28
  • ACCIDENTS: 521: Investigated: 302/ with injury: 58/ with fatalities: 1
  • Total calls for service: 6,737
